American Statistical Association (ASA) - Ann Arbor Chapter
The Ann Arbor ASA chapter holds regular FREE introductory workshops in R, SPSS, SAS, STATA, etc. Thinking of joining ASA? Ann Arbor ASA will reimburse $10 of the membership cost for NEW student members! Just ask about the Member-Get-A-Member Campaign. They also have a Google Site.

A2 Data Dive
Inspired by Data Without Borders, A2 DataDive is a bi-annual event where people come together for a weekend to work on big data questions for local non-profits that don't have the resources to analyze on their own.

Data Without Borders pairs non-profits with data scientists who can assist them with data collection and analysis.
Kaggle
Want to test your skills? Kaggle is a platform for predictive modeling competitions. Companies, governments and researchers host competitions. Data scientists (like you!) collaborate or compete with each other to come up with the best solution. In exchange for their intellectual property, winners are awarded with cash or kudos.
Gapminder
Gapminder has FREE Trendalyzer data visualization software, which takes numbers and transforms them into interactive graphics. The nonprofit tracks sustainable global development, as measured by the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
